Wild Things - International Kids Festival

From the 26th September until the 11th October, the Opera House is hosting a kids festival with plenty of theatre shows and free activities aimed at children. See what's on here! 

One that will appeal to all ages is the Iwagumi Air Scape by Eness. As you move through the rock formation on the Forecourt, a soundscape of native birds, frogs and streams is triggered. After dark it lights up, melting into different colours.

A delightful art addition to an evening out. Lights off at 10 pm.

The flowers all over the neighbourhood are definitely making me forget the woes of the world at least for a few moments in the sunshine as I tear down the street for the bus or amble about with the dog.

What can make you happier than a new burst of colour suddenly appearing?

It's like a little journey of discovery that changes almost daily.

Even the roadside strawberries are getting ready for harvest (though I'm not sure about eating inner city verge produce??)

Sydney Fringe Festival

 Last night we headed out to catch some global comedy as part of Sydney Fringe Festival. It's a low cost investment for an hour of laughs at the Newtown Hotel.  We were offered discounted tix to a later show (if you wanted to make a night of it) but we left it and were home by 8pm. Fringe is a great way to get out and about on a weeknight without being exhausted the next day or spend too much money.

So take a punt - there's over 300 shows in the month long programme, all different kinds of performance. Tickets are here. 

Last night I saw My Grandpa doesn't follow me on Instagram. This show is funny, heartwarming and very joyful. On until the 26th Sept. Tix are here. It's the winner of this year's Fringe for me.

Sydney Marathon

The Sydney Marathon is now a world major, and one of the prettiest, according to my husband who has run over 20 and has all the Abbott Stars (Though I think he forgets how beautiful Paris was - and as a spectator, how easy Berlin was to get around, but I digress).

The city is abuzz on the Sunday in late August, moved due to the terrible heat a few years back. It was a perfect day.

With Father's Day the following week, it's really been a fortnight of celebrating him!

My favourite costume was the Monkey King from Journey to the West (I think that's who he was meant to be, and the cricketer who very excitedly took a selfie outside the SCG).

Daffodil season

Late Winter, early Spring means you'll start seeing these lovely flowers popping up in the streets of Sydney. This was in the verge garden on my dog walk. It made me smile.

Coincidently, my husband was at a funeral at the same time where they were given a single daffodil in remembrance of their friend who died of cancer.

The cancer council is shy of their Daffodil Day fund raiser so you can still donate here if interested.

It's definitely daffodil season here, one way or another.

What season?

We've just finished the HSC Trials so exam season is over.

It's not quite Spring, though it's beginning to feel like Winter is over.

I'm not quite sure what season it is at the moment.

As a result, I seem perpetually incorrectly dressed!

So it's short and sweet from me this week.

(Though I believe we're heading into a brief rainy season with potential flooding - so Sydney roads and trains if nothing else will be a mess).

The photos are because it's been so long since we've had a vaguely decent sunrise.

Cherry Blossom Season

They're here. Popping up all over Sydney. It's a very brief window in Sydney - 2-3 weeks, but so pretty when you see the burst of pink in your neighbourhood.

For me there is a special buzz when I see that first one!

Today I'll pop out to our tree lined street in the 'hood so see if they're in full bloom yet...

Lights out and #Allseasons house keeping

Alas VIVID is done and dusted for another year. 

Always a little sad.

The city suddenly seems a little dull, or the mood drops as we start to focus on reality a little more...

I spent the last night dancing away at Carriageworks - Golden Features and Porter DJ - both excellent. And the crowd was so wholesome - singing their hearts out. mindful of body contact even in a massive crush. All around perfect and great vibes!

I've been getting up and watching the last half of the morning game for the World Cup. Unfortunately I'll miss the 2 games today as I've organised a lunch, well in advance before I made the connection with what was happening today.

Anyway, the house keeping. is the last #Allseasons before I shut the blog for a month. The blog will shut from 26 June to 26 July.

I'm off travelling in July, however, I'm off to Dark Mofo this weekend so the comments & posts won't get looked at until next week. I am very excited!
